"Ballet Birds" Variation Workshop

Updated: Mar 4, 2021

Hello Dancers! My lovely pianist, Alice Hargrove, and I are so excited for our second online variation workshop! Our Sugarplum Workshop was so much fun and we were just so thrilled and overjoyed with all the positive responses. Our plan is to keep these going every few months or so and eventually we'll be able to hold these workshops in person - yay!

With Spring right around the corner, I thought it would be appropriate to find our inner ballet birds. Over the course of five 75 minute sessions, we will learn the Blue Bird variation as well as the Dying Swan variation. Both are very different...Bird Blue is really quick, light, dainty, and spunky. Dying Swan is slow and dramatic with tons of beautiful "flying" arm movements. It'll definitely help you get in touch with your back and arm muscles that maybe you didn't even know you had.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

🦢 This workshop is for experienced teen/adult dancers ONLY! You must have at least 2 years of serious and consistent ballet training and must be familiar with ballet vocabulary, positions, and proper technique.

🦢 It will run for 5 consecutive Tuesday evenings starting March 23, 2021 from 7:45-9pm EST.

🦢 Each class will start with a quick 15-20 minute barre to warm up the body and the rest of class will be devoted to learning our revised "small space friendly" variations.

🦢 We will have an "online performance run through" on our last session on April 20, 2021 where I'll have you dance in smaller groups so we can all watch, learn, and cheer each other on. If you're not comfortable with this, it's completely okay! You can still dance with your group and just turn your camera off.

RATE $130

This includes five 75 minute sessions, 2 special private YouTube video links where I will demo each variation (facing the back as if you were standing behind me in the studio) AND breakdown each variation into multiple sections and explain the steps in detail so you can practice at home whenever! This time around I'm also offering you the option to film yourself doing the full variation(s) or just parts and uploading it to google drive and sharing your link with me so I can view your video. I will then film myself watching your video as I make comments and corrections and send you back my commentary video. This will be a great way to get more personal feedback. You may do this at any point during the workshop or after the workshop is over (1 video per person which can include BOTH variations if you want).
